Welcome to Dale View, a truly exceptional Grade II Listed luxury holiday home set in an elevated position in the North York Moors National Park. Dating back to the 1700s, this award-winning 5 Star barn conversion is the perfect choice for families looking for something extra special.

There is so much to delight in with this fabulous property it’s difficult to know where to start. Forgetting about the stunning location for just a moment, let’s turn our attention towards the gorgeous interior. Step inside this historic sandstone barn and you immediately get a sense of the quality of this conversion, from the sympathetic materials used to the standard of workmanship inside.

First there’s a spacious utility / boot room– ideal for storing those muddy walking boots or drying off wet coats. This room is also home to a sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, with lots of extra storage should you need it. Heated stone flagstones invite you into a large farmhouse style kitchen with bags of room for the whole family. And arriving to find a delicious cake from the local bakery or the owner’s home-made warm scones with jam and cream waiting for you is a real treat…

This is such a family-friendly space. Picture yourself and your loved ones gathered around the antique elm table for breakfast each morning, or enjoying laughter-filled evenings with great food and a few bottles of wine when the sun goes down. Lots of little extra touches give this space a seriously stylish edge; mood lighting perfect for that first glass of bubbly, the worn butcher’s block-cum-kitchen island, the iconic Belfast sink, rustic benches and church pews, exposed stone walls and wooden beams all serve to give this room a warm and welcoming vibe. You’ll also find all the usual mod cons including a dishwasher and a state of the art induction hob.

Make your way along the hallway to the living space. This room really has the wow-factor with its double height ceiling, bright mezzanine level and cosy wood-burner tucked away underneath. There are also great views from the patio doors across the garden and down the dale. Shoo the kids off up the stairs while the adults gather around the fire with a glass of wine or two. An LCD TV, DVD Player, Freeview and Wi-Fi are all included here as is a pine box filled with family board games.

There are 3 bedrooms in Dale View – 2 with Cornish Bed Company king-size brass beds and the third a sweet twin room. The first King-size is on ground level and enjoys its own private access to the garden. We love the sandstone standing stone at the foot of the bed complete with an original wren’s nest in one of its nooks (long vacated!) Exposed oak beams and quirky oak shutters add to the character in here.

Upstairs to the second king-size, a truly inspiring room and one you just won’t want to leave. Dominated by a huge glass wall which looks out onto the 20 foot living space, it has a real grandeur about it with its brass bedstead, woollen rugs and bespoke coat hangers made by a local blacksmith. And with the curtain pulled across the glass wall it becomes your own private retreat. The twin bedroom is on the other side of the landing, another very atmospheric space with its vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, stone walls and pretty white beds.

Dale View also has two bathrooms, a large wet room on ground level which includes a WC and a spacious family bathroom upstairs complete with a freestanding roll-top. The family bathroom also boasts a large walk-in shower if you haven’t got time for a soak in the tub.

And so to the gardens…To the front of the cottage you’ll find a manicured central green and dovecot home to a family of white Doves. To the rear throw open the patio doors in the living room and discover a private south-facing patio and lawned garden with fantastic views of Danby Dale and the North York Moors. There is also a further private garden which boasts a pagoda set into a sheltered space, outdoor furniture and a gas BBQ. Lighting in the pagoda and in the garden lends this space a fairy-tale ambiance at night. On a warm summer’s evening there are few finer places in Yorkshire in settle down for dinner al fresco…

Local Area

Dale View is set in an elevated position enjoying uninterrupted views over Danby Dale in the North York Moor’s National Park. This lush green valley leads on to the exquisite heather clad hills of the high central moors. There is a sense of wilderness here, but its cast in comforting soft focus.
